The Middle Level Section of Â¥·ïÌìÌà is pleased to announce the selection of Alina Pruitt as the incoming editor of Voices from the Middle (VM).

Alina Adonyi Pruitt, PhD, is an English language arts educator and researcher whose work centers literacy, equity, and the lives of middle grades students. She holds a PhD in curriculum and instruction from The University of Texas at Austin where her doctoral research examined the design, teaching, and learning of racial literacy in an urban seventh-grade reading and writing classroom. Pruitt has served as an assistant professor of Instruction at UT Austin, teaching courses including Literacy for Social Change, Teaching and Learning in Urban Contexts, and Language Arts Methods and brings more than two decades of experience across K–16 settings, including two terms as an English Department Chair. Her research on racial literacy, culturally sustaining pedagogy, and multimodal and multilingual literacies has appeared in journals such as Linguistics and Education, English Education, Teaching and Teacher Education, and Bilingual Research Journal, along with book chapters with Corwin Press and Guilford Press.
