Middle and high school English language arts (ELA) classroom teachers are invited to lead the creation of a scalable framework for responsible AI use within the discipline through a new initiative led by the Â¥·ïÌìÌà Council of Teachers of English, courtesy of a national grant from , the company’s philanthropy.Ìý

This opportunity centers ELA teachers as decision makers, following Â¥·ïÌìÌÃ’s proven cohort model. A dozen groups comprising four teachers and one facilitator each will engage in sustained, collaborative professional development to deepen understanding of AI’s possibilities and constraints, facilitate its implementation, and generate practical resources, including peer-reviewed lesson plans for ELA instruction.Ìý

ELA teachers in grades 6–12 are invited to apply to be part of a cohort. Participants will receive a $1,500 stipend and funding to attend the in Philadelphia, including registration, travel, and lodging.Ìý

 

Applicant CriteriaÌý

  • Applicants must be current or recent classroom teachers in grades 6–12.Ìý
  • Applicants must work in a school/district where AI tools are available to some degree. Applicants should demonstrate familiarity with and an interest in AI.Ìý
  • Applicants should have experience with writing lesson plans and classroom resources; collaborative writing experience is a plus.Ìý
