The Writing Process: Prewriting

Welcome to the first week of October! Here at ¥, we look forward to the ¥ Day on Writing on October 20. On Sundays during October, we’ll be looking at steps in the writing process, supported by resources from and .

When it comes to prewriting, what are ways to brainstorm, plan, structure, and organize writing?

  • —This handout helps students evaluate story structure by answering the questions who, what, where, when, how, and why.
