To me, summer means picnics and barbecues, reading, watching summer blockbusters, listening to tunes at the lake or pool, spending time with friends and family 鈥� and relaxing. Did you know that and have resources to support all of those things?
- After聽reading a book about making food, have a party! Children will write invitations, follow a recipe, and enjoy sharing their homemade goods.
- Summer book groups enhance and sustain student literacy behaviors over the break, making available an enjoyable social forum for critical-thinking and critical-reading practices to occur naturally.
- Teens gather together for a viewing party of a movie, at home or the theater, then participate in a salon critiquing the merits of the movie.
- In this project, teens create autobiographies, adding music selections to their life stories.
- Invite young adults to write letters to classmates, postcards from travels, and e-mails to family and friends.
