Summer Fun!

To me, summer means picnics and barbecues, reading, watching summer blockbusters, listening to tunes at the lake or pool, spending time with friends and family – and relaxing. Did you know that and have resources to support all of those things?

  • After reading a book about making food, have a party! Children will write invitations, follow a recipe, and enjoy sharing their homemade goods.

  • Summer book groups enhance and sustain student literacy behaviors over the break, making available an enjoyable social forum for critical-thinking and critical-reading practices to occur naturally.

  • Teens gather together for a viewing party of a movie, at home or the theater, then participate in a salon critiquing the merits of the movie.

  • In this project, teens create autobiographies, adding music selections to their life stories.

  • Invite young adults to write letters to classmates, postcards from travels, and e-mails to family and friends.

What is on your list to do this summer?
